Regulations of the Women and the World
Film Festival, London, November 21-23, 2024

1. Purpose of the Festival

 

The Women and the World Film Festival is dedicated to highlighting the role of women in military conflicts through the lens of cinema. This event aims to raise public awareness and encourage discussions on important issues through feature films, documentaries, journalistic video works, and classic cinema.

The founder and organizer of the Film Festival is Private company limited by guarantee "Talented U Limited" (hereinafter referred to as the Organizer), a legal entity registered and operating under the current legislation of the United Kingdom.

 

The Film Festival is held in the city of London (United Kingdom) based on these Regulations. The Women and the World Film Festival is scheduled to take place from November 21, 2024, to November 23, 2024.

 

2. Festival Program

 

The festival is divided into competitive and non-competitive programs:

 

  - Competitive Program:

  - Feature Film (at least 60 minutes in duration).

  - Short Film (no longer than 30 minutes).

  - Documentary Film.

  - Journalistic, News, TV Video Work, and Social Media Content: Any type of media content that fits within these descriptions can be submitted, regardless of format or length. 

 

COMPETITIVE PROGRAM

 

Participation in the competitive programs of the Film Festival.

Applications for participation in the competitive programs of the Film Festival are accepted from any legal or natural persons over 18 years of age, without restrictions on citizenship and place of residence, who are the authors of an audiovisual cinematographic work that meets the requirements of these Regulations, or, at a minimum, possess the necessary property rights to submit an application and grant the Organizer permission to use such work within the Film Festival.

 

1. Full-length feature/documentary/short films of all genres and journalistic video works for online platforms and social media, completed between 2022 and 2024, are eligible for the selection process.

 

2. Applications for participation in the competitive program are accepted starting from September, 2024.

Regular: £5, Late deadline : £10

The competitive program is open to participants.

 

3. To submit an application, one must fill out an online form on the FilmFreeway website and provide all materials specified in the online form by 6 PM (London time) on October 27, 2024.

 

4. Up to 20 films may be selected for the competitive program.

 

5. Films submitted for the competitive program may also be selected for participation in the non-competitive programs of the Film Festival. Such participation is additionally agreed upon with the applicant. By submitting films for selection in the Film Festival program, the applicant guarantees the film's participation if selected and commits to assisting the Film Festival in organizing the screening and inviting the creative team by providing all necessary materials, film copies, subtitles, etc.

 

6. The selection of films is carried out by the selection committee of the competitive program, appointed by the Organizer. The Organizer approves the composition and number of members of the selection committee and the final list of films selected for the competitive program. Priority will be given to films for which the screening within the competitive program will be a UK premiere.

 

7. Information about the final list of films participating in the competitive program will be published on the official Film Festival website.

 

8. During the Film Festival, winners of the competitive program are determined in the categories "Best Feature Film",  "Best Short Film",  "Best Documentary Film",  "Best Journalistic Video Work for Online Platforms and Social Media".

 

9. Only one film participant can be named the winner in each category.

 

10. The determination of the winner in each category of the competitive program is made by the jury members of the competitive program (hereinafter referred to as the Jury), which includes art figures, cultural experts, film critics, directors, actors, producers, and other representatives of the film industry. To avoid conflicts of interest, jury members cannot be individuals associated with the production or distribution of films participating in the competitive program. The composition and number of jury members are approved by the Organizer.

 

11. Winners of the competitive program will be announced on the last day of the Film Festival at the closing ceremony, namely on November 23, 2024.

 

12. The following award is provided for winning the competitive program:

 • The director of the winning film in each category will receive the Film Festival statuette and prize. 

 

13. Additionally, at its discretion, the Jury may recognize up to two (2) Special Jury Diplomas for films or their creative team members participating in the competitive program.

 

Conditions for Submission and Participation in the Non-Competitive Program

 

The non-competitive program of the Women and the World Film Festival includes:

- Classic cinema reflecting the theme of women in conflicts.

- Art section with exhibitions of artistic and multimedia projects.

- Panel discussions with filmmakers, historians, and activists.

- Masterclasses by film industry professionals.

 

Conditions of Participation:

 

1. For Classic Cinema and Art Section:

   - Submissions are invited for works that have historical, cultural, or artistic value and reflect the festival's theme.

   - Authors or rights holders of the works are invited to submit an application for participation through the official festival website, where they need to fill out an application form and provide a description of the work and its digital copy or a link for viewing.

 

2. For Panel Discussions:

   - Experts, historians, filmmakers, and activists wishing to participate in discussions should submit a brief description of the proposed discussion topic and a short biography through the form on the festival website.

 

3. For Masterclasses:

   - Film industry professionals interested in conducting masterclasses should submit an application with a description of the proposed masterclass, its duration, target audience, and necessary technical means.

 

General Provisions:

- Participation in the non-competitive program is free of charge.

- All applications will be reviewed by the festival's organizing committee, which reserves the right to select participants without providing additional explanations.

- Organizers are not responsible for the storage and return of submitted materials.

- Participation in the non-competitive program does not automatically grant the right to show works within the competitive program of the festival.

 

Submission Deadlines:

- Applications for participation in the non-competitive program are accepted until October 10, 2024. All participants whose work has been selected for the non-competitive program will be notified by October 30, 2024.

 

Selection and Notification Procedure:

- The selection of works for the non-competitive program is carried out by the festival's organizing committee.

- Organizers reserve the right to invite participants directly based on their professional contributions or the historical significance of their works for the festival's theme.

- Participants whose works have been selected for the non-competitive program will be notified by email and/or phone. All further instructions and information about participation will be sent accordingly.

 

Participant Obligations:

- Participants selected for panel discussions and masterclasses must confirm their participation and provide a detailed plan of their presentation or masterclass no later than October 30, 2024.

- Participants of the art section and rights holders of classic films must provide all necessary materials for the exhibition or screening within the deadlines set by the organizers.

- Works for consideration must be submitted through the official festival website.

 

5. Selection Criteria  

- Originality and creative approach to the theme.

- Artistic quality and production professionalism.

- Ability to evoke emotional resonance and provoke discussion.

 

6. Awards  

Winners in each category of the competitive program will receive awards, which will be announced at the festival's closing ceremony. Details about the awards and sponsors will be announced on the official festival website and the event's social media.

7. Jury  

- The jury will consist of international experts in the fields of cinema, culture, and history, as well as activists working on the theme of women and war.

- The jury's decision is final and not subject to appeal.

 

8. Screening Requirements  

- All films included in the competitive and non-competitive programs will be shown in London cinemas designated as official festival venues.

- The screening schedule will be published in advance on the festival website.

 

9. Publication and Rights  

 

Intellectual Property Rights and Guarantees

 

1. By submitting an application under these Regulations to participate in the Film Festival events, the applicant:

 

 • Has carefully read these Regulations, including the requirements for films/projects that may participate in the Film Festival, and confirms full understanding and acceptance;

 • Confirms that they have sufficient authority to submit the application and that this action does not infringe on the rights and/or legitimate interests of third parties;

 • Agrees to grant the Organizer the right to provide access to the film/project to the relevant jury and selection committees, and, if selected, the right to use the film/project by publicly displaying it within the framework and during the Film Festival.

 

2. The applicant who submitted the application and transferred the relevant materials to the Organizer under these Regulations is independently responsible for any claims, lawsuits, or demands from third parties towards such an applicant and/or the Organizer in connection with the use of these materials within the Film Festival and immediately compensates the Organizer for all costs incurred or that may arise in this regard. The Organizer has the right to exclude a film from participation in the Film Festival in case of receiving evidence of copyright infringement by the applicant who submitted the film for participation.

 

3. The Organizer guarantees that audiovisual works and other materials submitted by applicants under these Regulations will not be used in ways not provided for by these Regulations.

 

4. The Organizer guarantees the proper presentation of the film. The Organizer is obliged, during the film selection and festival screenings, to prevent pirated copying, illegal reproduction, or distribution of all officially submitted films, which are the copyright objects of participants (right holders).

 

5. Participants grant the festival the right to publicly screen their works within the event without paying an author's fee.

 

10. Financial Conditions

- No registration fee is required for participation in the competitive program.

- Participants bear the costs associated with the shipment and insurance of films.

- The financial support of the Women and the World International Film Festival is carried out from sources not prohibited by UK law.

 

11. Liability

- The festival organizers are not responsible for the storage and potential damage to film copies during shipment.

- Participants must have all necessary rights to use music, images, texts, and other content in their films.

 

12. Final Provisions

- Participation in the festival implies full acceptance of these regulations.

- In case of disputes arising from these Regulations, they are resolved through good-faith and constructive negotiations between the parties to the conflict.

- For any issues not regulated by these Regulations, the Organizer makes separate decisions, which are additionally communicated.

- The provisions of these Regulations may be supplemented and/or amended at any time, with subsequent publication on the official website https://www.iffww.com
